About Zizhou
Zizhou Zhang is a North London-based pianist and music tutor who has been teaching since 2016.
He studied Music at Christ Church, Oxford University, graduating with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, with a focus on piano performance. He went on to teach at Magdalen College School, Oxford, before moving freelance.
Zizhou has performed concerts and recitals all over the UK, including in illustrious venues such as Wigmore Hall and St. James Piccadilly in London, and the Sheldonian Theatre and Holywell Music Room in Oxford, as well as abroad in Vienna, Beijing and Shanghai.
He has won a number of competitions and awards for his playing, including the prestigious Beethoven Piano Society of Europe’s Junior Intercollegiate Competition in 2012, and was runner-up in the Oxford Philharmonia Concerto Competition in 2014.
He has received masterclasses from distinguished pianists such as Lang Lang, Joanna MacGregor, and Marios Papadopoulos, and he has also been broadcast by BBC Radio 3 on its “Performance on 3” programme.

Teaching Philosophy
Zizhou believes in empowering his students with the musical skills they need to eventually be able to explore on their own. His teaching style emphasises fundamentals and seeks to incorporate music theory and history in order to enhance the student’s playing and understanding.
Services
Zizhou specialises in ABRSM Piano and Music Theory tuition, as well as GCSE and A-Level Music support, and Oxbridge application advice. He teaches a wide range of ages, from young beginners starting out on the grade ladder, to adults playing recreationally for their own enjoyment. Online lessons are also available.
